Alfors Architecture was founded by Barbara Alfors, who has over 20 years experience in custom residential architecture. Barbara is a licensed architect, and has gained much of her experience with custom homes while at KAA Design. She has a Masters of Architecture degree from UCLA, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from UC Santa Cruz in Art History. Barbara is also trained as a coach through CTI, and is a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF).
Barbara is a California native who has had a lifelong passion for architecture, and spent many hours as a child imagining fanciful dwellings. Love of the outdoors has framed her interest in the relation of architecture to the land, and the beauty that nature brings to our lives. Barbara is a longtime member of Heal the Bay, Tree People, and the LA Conservancy – three Los Angeles-based charitable organizations which focus on improving the community we live in.
Barbara's architectural focus is on creating spaces that people love to live in. When you live in a beautiful home your spirits are uplifted. Her design aesthetic takes a nod from the past, bringing in rich details that make a home feel like a home, while still capturing the flow, light, and airiness that is so prized today.
Barbara makes the sometimes intimidating endeavor of designing a home much easier. She is highly skilled at managing the design process, from start to finish, and works well as a team with the owners, engineers, consultants, and contractors who bring the home to fruition.
